Homeward Journey
This mixed-media painting captures the essence of migration, nostalgia, and the journey between worlds. A packed car, adorned with luggage, moves through a vibrant landscape filled with deep reds, warm oranges, and earthy tones. Framed by architectural elements and human figures, the scene evokes both movement and memory—an intimate portrayal of family road trips taken across borders, carrying gifts and stories. The layered composition, featuring fabric reminiscent of travel bags, emphasizes the themes of displacement and reunion. The expressive faces at the edges suggest longing, anticipation, and the warmth of returning home. This piece is a tribute to the chaotic beauty of travel, the passage of time, and the enduring ties of family and tradition.
Soft water, strong Bonds
This reflects my memories of growing up visiting the Moroccan hammam, a communal bathhouse that served as both a cleansing ritual and a sanctuary for women. It was a space where generations gathered sharing stories, traditions, and care. In this intimate setting, I was exposed to the beauty of body types and shapes, learning to appreciate the natural forms of womanhood.
The hammam became a symbol of connection, growth, and self-acceptance an experience that shaped my understanding of community and identity.
I also call it the safe space. 2024 120x90cm
Echoes of home
This is a large acrylic painting I created based on pictures I collected while visiting my country. The scene is vibrant and full of life, capturing the essence of the bustling streets and markets. I wanted the colors to feel overwhelming, just like the explosion of sights, smells, and emotions I experience when I’m there. Each figure and structure in the painting is tied to a memory, evoking the richness of the culture. The bold lines and vivid colors are meant to reflect how intense and alive everything feels — a sensory overload that leaves a lasting impression.2023 140x140 cm

Aisha Kandischa
Aisha Kandischa, often depicted in Moroccan folklore as a powerful female spirit, has evolved in modern narratives into a symbol of resistance and cunning. Traditionally, she is portrayed as a beautiful woman who lures men to their doom, using her beauty as a weapon to exact vengeance, and in some stories, she is even seen as a figure who fought against colonialism. This myth reflects deeper societal fears and reverence towards the power of female allure.
In contemporary discussions, Aisha Kandischa’s story is often reinterpreted as a metaphor for women’s strength and agency. Her use of beauty as a weapon can be seen as a critique of how women’s appearances are often emphasized and exploited in patriarchal societies. This narrative challenges the perception of beauty as superficial, highlighting its potential as a source of power and influence.
With this painting I want resonate with ongoing conversations about gender dynamics, particularly the empowerment of women in resisting oppression and reclaiming agency. It encourages a reexamination of the roles and expectations placed upon women, advocating for a broader recognition of their capabilities beyond traditional gender norms. 2024 120x90cm
Silent Vigil
This acrylic and marker painting combines and symbolizes vigilance and the struggle for freedom, emphasized by the word "حرية" (freedom) above. Below, a woman is flanked by faceless, armored figures, representing confrontation with authority. The contrasting Arabic text, "يأتي البيت ويغلي بعض الشاي" (Come home and have some tea."), adds a domestic, calming note amidst the tension. The vibrant colors and layered imagery reflect resilience, control, and the enduring fight for liberation. 2021 100x70cm
Shared luck
This acrylic painting honors the bond between my grandaunt and grandmother, celebrating the sisterhood and shared support that defined their relationship. Inspired by a treasured photo, it captures their warmth through vibrant colors, flowing traditional robes, and a familiar home setting. The Arabic script, reading “shared luck,” adds a meaningful layer, symbolizing the fortune and blessings they experienced together. This piece reflects the timeless connection between women, reminding me of the strength, resilience, and love passed down through generations. 2023 100x70
Threads of Self
This impulsive mixed-media painting merges acrylics, yarn, jewelry, and embroidery to reflect themes of personal and cultural identity. The donkey symbolizes "people-pleasing," while the white plastic chair recalls intimate nights where your community shared life stories. The ornate details and handcrafted elements represent heritage, utilizing gifts and materials that connect me to my roots. With rich textures and vibrant colors, this piece speaks to self-satisfaction and the act of creating for one's own fulfillment, blending personal memories with cultural expression. 2024 120x90
Here we are.
This acrylic painting represents those who are not represented enough. It’s my response to the frustration I feel when society chooses not to see us. Each face in the piece stands boldly, demanding to be acknowledged. The diversity and individuality of each person are undeniable, and through this work, I’m making sure we are seen. If they don’t want to recognize us, I will make us visible. This painting is about visibility, identity, and the power of representation. 2024 120x90

being influenced by our culture. A glimpse of our past. A part of ourselves. Reclaiming the word and being proud of our heritage.
This Installation consists of 7 paintings, 2 carpets, a bust and a video feature from Diego. 2024
SFENJ
This is an analog photo I took of a sfenj shop in our neighborhood in Oujda. Sfenj is like a Moroccan bread, and in the picture, you can see some freshly fried sfenj on a tray through the window. The shop is run by hardworking men, making these in a small garage. I edited the photo by adding the word "SFENJ" at the top and some pink Arabic lettering on the glass, giving it a nostalgic and local feel. The analog camera adds that grainy texture, making it feel warm and authentic, just like the neighborhood and the people making this food. 2022 A3
